Hello I am new to this game and I love it so far. I am looking for a legion to join but I was told by some players to be careful of legions that take advantage of there members. Please advise. Thank you and hope to hear from you soon

Hmm, I haven't really heard of that myself. As far as I know there isn't anything the legion can do as far as in-game settings or processes that can take advantage of you.

I would be suspicious of any legion that requires anything up front, gold, items, etc. Just use your best judgement and make find a group of people that you like to hang out with.

About the only issue I have heard of is where Bots/spammers have formed Legions in order to gain some form of legitimacy, but that is few and far between, most bot scams dont waste time with gaining legitimacy.

Like TZ said, this game doent haev any settings that are able to take your gold and/or loot. Some games have an option where a percentage of any loot you gain goes to the Legion, but Aion currently is not one of them.

I personally made my own Legion for like 14k, mainly so my GF and I could share a warehouse instead of having to get our Alts together all the time...then as we made friends with some people they joined our legion and then their alts joined. We have a blast questing and killing stuff together.

Now the Legion Warehouse is an area you will want to be aware of. Don't store anything in the Legion warehouse you don't want anyone else to take. If you are given access to it (LW), don't go storing something valuable in there (LW) and be supprised if some jerk takes it. If you are storing Aether Powder and Crystals so anyone can use them that is great, if you are storing a sword to give to a friend and the sword isnt there by the time your friend logs in, then you probably should have mailed the weapon instead.

Like TZ said, find a group of people you enjoy playing with. Doing quests seems to go faster sometimes when you have a tank and a healer and a chanter for buffs, etc. If you find yourself grouping with the same people over and over again, and they are in a Legion, maybe you can join it and make new friends - or you decide like me to make your own. This is a game, so have fun.
